Hang in there...spring is coming! Many of you are probably
thinking the exact
same thoughts this time of year. You can see signs of
spring starting to
occur from the basins of the Tidewater area to the beautiful
Blue Ridge
Mountains and all the cities in between. As I was drafting
my message a
beautiful red Cardinal (the Virginia state bird) landed on my
window ledge,
peered in and then soared off.
Yes, it's hard to believe that yet another
season has
come and gone. It has truly been a pleasure to serve as
your President this
year. Virginia is such a great state and we have such a
wonderful
professional organization. I was so pleased to have the
opportunity to work
closer with so many of you this year!
As I reflect back on the year, I am amazed
at how
effortless you all make running this organization appear.
Like a well oiled
machine, every person has their role and therefore we all move
ahead as an
organization. I am so proud of each of you! VACE has
always been an
organization that works hard and plays hard. However, if
you don't feel
like you have a role and would like to be more involved in VACE
simply
mention it to me or anyone on the board.
As you all know, a professional
organization is very
important to have. The list serve is an opportunity to advertise
openings and
exchange occupational information on a regular basis. I
know it helps me
feel more connected to all of you. The newsletter is a
chance to share news
and enlighten members. Our regional gatherings are yet
another opportunity
to socialize and casually enjoy each other. Of course the
highlight of our
year is quickly approaching - the annual spring conference!
Williamsburg is always the gracious hostess
of the
southern part of our state. As we rotate around the state
we get the
opportunity to experience all that Virginia truly has to
offer. The
conference is the grand forum for greeting others and exchanging
ideas! It
is always a great opportunity to learn something new and
recharge. I know
it is one of the highlights of my spring!
Again, thank you for the opportunity to
serve as
President. Based on the upcoming board and committee
members, I know we are
in good hands as we continue to "soar" into the future.
See you in
Williamsburg!
Warmest regards,
Christine
Harriger
President
