Professional Development Scholarships

EXPECTATIONS
Four Professional Development
Scholarships are available for the membership
Purpose:
Four $500.00 professional
development scholarships are available on an annual basis, two for
Employer members and two for College members, (depending on
applications received) to support attendance at a workshop,
conference or other programs for the purpose of enhancing
career-related professional growth to the scholarship recipients and
to the greater membership as a whole.
Candidacy Requirements:
Candidates must be current VACE
members at the time of application and the professional development
program. Attendance and reimbursement must occur within the current
fiscal year (July 1st to June 31st).
What the Professional
Development Scholarship covers:
This scholarship is up to, but
will not exceed, $500.00 and it could cover:
- Program,
workshop, or conference registration fees
- Travel
expenses
Application Process:
- Complete and submit the
following by October 15th or February 15th* to the Scholarship Chair

VACE Professional
Development Scholarship Application Form with the signature
of immediate supervisor to show support for attendance of the
program.
- A Statement of Interest that
covers:
- The
specific program of interest
- How
you anticipate that this program will enhance
professional growth
- How
you intend on using this information in the workplace
- How
this experience can benefit VACE members, as well, and
how you intend on sharing this information with the
organization

Application Process
continued:
- List of costs and a statement of
additional funding sources that have been researched and the
amount of funds, if any, expected from other sources
- Copy of the program agenda or
description and registration form
*First priority will be given
to those applying by the October 15th deadline. If the
scholarships are not granted at that time, members will be alerted
to the scholarship availability and to submit applications by
second deadline date of February 15th.
- The Professional
Development Scholarship Committee will review all applicants
and grant four professional development scholarships up to, but
not to exceed, $500.00 each - two for employer members and two
for college members. This will be done by November 1 and
March 1, respectively.
Expectations of Scholarship
Recipients:
After program attendance, the scholarship recipients are expected
to:
- Write
and submit an article to the VACE Innerview (newsletter). It is
recommended that this be done within a month of attending the
program.
- Consider
developing a program for a drive-in workshop or for the annual
conference.

Retain a receipt of program costs and submit to the Professional Development Scholarship Chair for
reimbursement.
