In 1996, The Virginia College Placement Association and the Virginia Association for Cooperative Education joined forces to become VACE -- The Virginia Association of Colleges and Employers. VACE is a strong, diversified non-profit organization representing employer and college professionals who are involved in career services, cooperative education, and recruiting and hiring college graduates. VACE offers members an array of benefits - the Innerview (a quarterly newsletter), drive-in workshops, employer visits, and an annual conference, opportunities for networking, a professional development scholarship and more.

In the Spring of 2003, the Board of Directors and Committee Chairs developed a Strategic Plan and Goals for 2004-2005. For strategic planning purposes, the Virginia Association of Colleges and Employers (VACE) will:

  1. Periodically evaluate the Board structure, composition, responsibilities and leadership roles in light of changing organizational needs.

  2. Systematically analyze VACE membership categories to ensure appropriate constituencies are represented.

  3. Continually assess demographics to identify under-represented constituencies for the development of membership recruitment strategies.

  1. Identify methods to enhance membership retention and involvement.

  2. Provide high quality professional development programs in a timely fashion to meet the needs and interests of the members.

  3. Continuously assess the leadership needs of the organization and provide opportunities for leadership development.

  4. Maximize emerging technology in light of available resources.

  5. Systematically analyze the revenue/expenditure stream and investments of the organization, ensuring the budgetary processes and investment strategies enhance VACE financial stability.
